Subway Is Giving Middle Seat Travelers 20 Dollar Gift Cards for One Day
Getting stuck in the middle seat just got a little less painful. Subway is offering $20 gift cards to travelers who find themselves “sandwiched” between two passengers, but only for one day.
How the Middle Seat Deal Works
On Tuesday, January 27, Subway will reward middle-seat flyers with a $20 gift card. To qualify, travelers must take a selfie from their airplane seat and submit it through Subway’s official promotion site. The offer is open to passengers flying on any airline, as long as submissions are made after 12:00:01 a.m. ET on Jan. 27.
Only the first 737 eligible submissions will receive the gift card. The photo must reasonably show both armrests and the seats on either side of the traveler. The passenger’s face does not need to be visible, but the image must clearly prove they’re in the middle seat.
Why Subway Is Doing This
The promotion coincides with Southwest Airlines ending its long-standing open-seat policy, a move that has renewed conversation around assigned seating and the dreaded middle spot. Subway is leaning into that frustration by offering a small but welcome consolation prize for travelers stuck in the least desirable seat on the plane.
Subway’s New and Nostalgic Deals
Alongside the middle-seat giveaway, Subway has also brought back its nostalgic Sub Club loyalty program after 20 years. Members receive a free footlong sandwich after purchasing three footlong subs or six 6-inch subs. The reward appears in the customer’s account within 24 hours of qualifying purchases.
Taco Bell Joins the Value Menu Trend
Subway isn’t the only fast-food chain rolling out deals. Taco Bell recently launched its new Luxe Value Menu, offering 10 menu items priced at $3 or less.
New additions include the Mini Taco Salad, Beefy Potato Loaded Griller, Chips and Nacho Supreme Dip, and the Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker. Fan favorites like the Cheesy Roll Up, Spicy Potato Soft Taco, and Cheesy Double Beef Burrito remain on the menu as well.
For travelers and fast-food fans alike, January is shaping up to be a surprisingly generous month.
