From Lawyer to Scaffolder How I Doubled My Salary and Found Happiness
A woman who spent seven years working in law has revealed how leaving the legal profession completely changed her financial situation and personal happiness.
Mollie Pollard, 33, said she made the difficult decision to quit her job as a lawyer after struggling to make ends meet despite years of hard work in the industry. She explained that the pressure and long hours no longer felt worth it, especially while she was still dealing with a £45,000 student loan.
After years in legal roles, Mollie said her salary ranged around £32,000 for most of her career, eventually rising to £42,000. Even at that level, she found it difficult to support herself independently.
In January last year, Mollie joined her husband, Tom, at a local scaffolding company near their home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. The move marked a complete career shift, but one that quickly paid off.
According to Mollie, her new role brought a significant financial boost, increasing her income by around 75 percent compared to her previous earnings. She said the change has made a major difference to her quality of life.
She also highlighted the emotional toll her legal career took on her, explaining that she felt she was giving everything to the job without seeing meaningful rewards in return.
Now, Mollie says she feels far more fulfilled in her new line of work. Along with the higher pay, she enjoys greater flexibility, more free time, and a healthier work-life balance.
Looking back, she has no regrets about leaving the legal profession behind and says the decision has allowed her to feel happier, more secure, and more in control of her future.
