Author Launches Book to Help Women Build Businesses Without Burnout

A Bournemouth-based business mentor and author has released a new book designed to help women grow successful businesses without sacrificing their health, families or personal wellbeing.

Erin Thomas Wong has launched How to Build a Life-Friendly Business, a guide aimed at female solopreneurs and small business owners who want sustainable growth without the pressure of constant hustle.

A Book Rooted in Real-Life Experience

Drawing on more than 17 years of experience, Erin brings a deeply personal perspective to the book. Her journey includes building businesses while navigating motherhood, relocating, and recovering from burnout, challenges that many women entrepreneurs quietly face.

Rather than promoting long hours and relentless productivity, the book challenges traditional business advice that often ignores real-life capacity and caring responsibilities.

A Practical Framework for Sustainable Growth

At the heart of the book is a clear, repeatable framework designed to help women:

    • Simplify their workloads
    • Lead with confidence
    • Make decisions based on realistic energy and time
    • Build businesses that support long-term wellbeing

The focus is on creating businesses that fit into life, not the other way around.

    Local Launch in Bournemouth

The book was officially launched this month at a celebratory event held at PATCH in Bournemouth town centre. Erin chose to host the launch locally to reflect her strong connection to the community where she lives and works.

She described the event as a celebration of women who are redefining success by combining ambition with compassion.

    Challenging the Hustle Culture Narrative

Erin believes many women feel they are failing in business when, in reality, they are trying to operate within models that were never designed for their lives.

Her message is clear: success does not have to come at the expense of health, family or personal fulfilment. The book aims to give women permission to do things differently, and confidently.

Designed for Ambitious Women at Every Stage

The book speaks directly to women who feel overwhelmed by the expectation to always be “on.” It encourages readers to step into a CEO mindset while designing businesses that align with their values and their current season of life.

According to Erin, a life-friendly business is not about lowering ambition, it’s about building a capacity-first strategy that supports sustainable success.

    Ongoing Support Through Community Events

Alongside the book, Erin continues to support women entrepreneurs through in-person events in Bournemouth. One of her key initiatives is Momentum Day, an annual gathering that brings together up to 70 women for business training, networking, masterminding and open conversations about what success truly looks like.

This year’s Momentum Day is scheduled for March 5 and focuses on practical strategy, connection and realistic growth planning.

    Redefining What Success Looks Like

Through her book and community work, Erin Thomas Wong hopes to shift the conversation around entrepreneurship for women, showing that it’s possible to build thriving businesses while honouring personal wellbeing, family life and long-term sustainability.
